abstract = "O objetivo deste trabalho {\'e} correlacionar dados de fitomassa
espectrais similares, a saber, no vermelho e no infravermelho
pr{\'o}ximo do espectro eletromagn{\'e}tico. O potencial
agr{\'{\i}}cola dos Cerrados do Brasil Central indica a
estrato herb{\'a}ceo significativo.
vegetativos.
significante com alguns dos {\'{\i}}ndices vegetativos testados;
c) os {\'{\i}}ndices vegetativos (Raz{\~a}o e TVI) apresentaram
vegeta{\c{c}}{\~a}o do que com a fitomassa foliar fresca total;
d) verificou-se uma alta correla{\c{c}}{\~a}o linear entre os
{\'{\i}}ndices vegetativos obtidos a partir de dados do
MSS-LANDSAT e de radiometria de campo. ABSTRACT: The objective of
this study is to correlate foliar biomass data obtained in the
field by a conventional destructive method with its spectral
response from MSS-LANDSAT and from field radiometry. Both systems
work in similar spectral bands throughout the red and near
infrared wavelenghts. Its great potential for agriculture
indicates the need for timely and accurate estimate of biomass of
the {"}Cerrado{"} of the Central Brazil, specially the {"}Campo
Cerrado{"}, which presents a significant herbaceous stratum. Field
data were collected in two periods: June 1983 and May 1984,
corresponding to the middle of the dry season and the end of
the-wet season, respectively. Three MSS-LANDSAT images with dates
close to the field work were used and its digital counts were
transformed into vegetation indices. Results showed that: a)
foliar biomass ranged from 297,9 to 808,0 g/m2; b) clipped foliar
biomass presented significant linear correlation coefficient with
the tested vegetation indices; c) tested vegetation indices
(Ratios and TVIs) correlated better with water content than with
total fresh biomass; d) a high linear correlation coefficient
between the TVIs obtained with MSS-LANDSAT and field radiometry
was observed.",
